Rimac Automobili is looking for a new BCU Embedded Software Engineer. As a young technology company driven by innovation, Rimac is always looking for talented people with awesome ideas.

You will be working on embedded software for the Body Control Unit on our custom-made hardware. The BCU is a device which manages and controls various vehicle body functions, such as opening doors, windows and bonnets. The BCU also controls some regular functions, such as lights, fans, pumps, the handbrake and HVAC, alongside some very cool functionalities such as firing the windshield in the event of a collision. A lot of your work will be done directly on the vehicle - performing tests on the vehicle as well as in the laboratory.

1. Responsibilities:

• Design and implementation of software for BCU systems from requirements to serial production

• Design, development, coding, testing and debugging system software from low-level drivers to application algorithms

• Reviewing code and design

• Analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources

• Supporting software QA and optimizing performance

• Providing post-production support

• Interfacing with hardware design and development

• Developing firmware for custom hardware platforms

• Implementing different interfaces for various actuators and sensors

• Developing system algorithms such as “window anti-pinch”

• Defining system hardware and software architecture

• System integration of firmware with hardware and mechanics

• Both Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) and “bare metal” programming

• Compliance with the ISO26262 standard in the development process (if required)

2. Requirements:

• Working experience in embedded software engineering

• MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or proven equivalent in experience

• Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets

• Programming experience in C/C++

• Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, communication protocols (UART, CAN, SPI, LIN), interfaces and hardware subsystems

• Excellent understanding and development of low-level drivers for microcontroller peripherals – DI, DO, ADC, DAC, Timers, PWM, DMA, Watchdog, etc.

• Experience in embedded systems design with pre-emptive, multitasking, real-time operating systems

• Familiarity with the software configuration of management tools, static code analysis, unit testing and peer review

• Advanced knowledge in reading schematics and component data sheets

• Hands-on experience in the use of laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analyzers for debugging purposes

• Strong documentation and writing skills

• Self-organized and goal-oriented

• Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential

3. Considered as an advantage:

• Extensive experience in the development and integration of products in the automotive sector

• Hands-on experience in the development of hardware and software of the Body Control Unit

• Broad experience in engineering

• Experience in CAN tools such as Vector CANalyzer, script languages and MATLAB/Simulink

• Experience in embedded hardware design

• Experience in the ISO26262 development process
