Rimac Automobili provides technology solutions for various vehicle manufacturers and companies in other industries, along with the development of our own Rimac Hypercars program. Our teams have developed both hardware and software solutions for the Concept_One, as well as numerous other public and secret projects, positioning Rimac Automobili as a leader in the development and production of high-performance electric vehicle technology solutions.

As we are developing and manufacturing various powertrain (including motors, inverters, gearboxes) and battery systems, we have the need for a lot of testing and validation equipment. That equipment is being used at all stages of development to make sure that our products meet the requirements (power, torque, energy...) and are reliable and safe. We are now preparing to expand our testing facilities and want to develop and assemble most of the test systems (such as motor test-beds  dynos) in-house. As we are most active in high-performance powertrains and battery systems – which means big numbers – over 1000V and 1.000 kW being squeezed out of batteries, over 700 Nm and 500 kW out of motors and 5.000 Nm on gearbox outputs. We are looking for a candidate who would lead the development, installation, set-up and commissioning of a state-of-the-art testing and research facility for testing electric powertrain and energy storage systems – from start to finish – including building up a small team of engineers and technicians who would help to bring our new facility to life.

1. Responsibilities:

• Defining the requirements for test equipment for high-performance electric vehicle powertrain and battery systems

• Lead the development, installation, set-up and commissioning of state-of-the-art test equipment

• Define the architecture, main components and IT structure of the test facility and test-beds

• Work with the R&D, QA and Homologation Teams to define the strategy for mid-term and long-term test facility needs

• Build and lead a small team who can develop, build and run world-class test facilities for electric powertrain and storage systems

2. Main Tasks:

• High-level strategic positioning and defining of test requirements on company-level 

• Channel the requirements of all departments into one comprehensive plan

• Defining test facility layout and main components

• Develop motor, gearbox and driveline test-beds (dynos) by using off-the-shelf main components (load motor, inverter, torque sensors...)

• Decide between off-the-shelf or custom/in-house developed tools for test equipment control, data storage/analysis and test facility management

3. Requirements:

• Expirience with developing and/or running complex test facilities

• Knowledge of the vendor eco-system in test-systems and their components

• Expirience and knowledge in both electrical and mechanical systems

• Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on test systems

• Hands-on – willingness to get «hands dirty» when necessary

• Understanding of testing and validation process in the automotive industry

• Strong documentation and writing skills

• Self-organized and goal-oriented

• Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential

• Previous experience in automobile industry is obligatory

• Knowledge of programming languages which can be used for VCU/BCU parameter settings

• Analytical, problem-solving oriented thinking
